I guess the recent news is regarding the NKF uproar in Sg. I don't really want to say too much about it since it's been commented on by almost everyone and his/her mom. Basically, it's pretty sad that such a thing is happening but I never liked the NKF in the first place.(that and the NKF shows are bloody lame) Still, in retrospect, I feel that one of the reasons for such an angry response from the public might be due to the general (growing) fustration on the ground with regard to many domestic issues. This NKF thing is just the tip of the iceberg. Lots of people are just fed up with their personal lives I guess. When something like this comes along, everyone's emotions quite literally explode.
On a side note, with the country's birthday coming up soon, it seems to me that the majority of the fustrated people in Sg are the citizens themselves. Foreigners don't seem that pissed off(or at least they don't show that they are pissed off). It really does seem though, that foreigners, and in particular PRs, get the best deal out of the current situation. I was doing some calculations and analysis into this issue a bit and it really seems to be the case. It's great to be an expat in Sg, even better if you are labelled "foreign talent". I wonder what the future holds for the country 5 years down the road...

most citizens themselves are pissed. But it is often these citizens who sometimes don't try hard enough themselves. The government can only help that much. Most of us would rather blame everyone else but ourselves.

The government discriminates against people who might be right but do not share their "vision". Trying to get citizens to be independent and yet dependent on them is extremely ironic.
